Intro
Preparing athletes for the world’s biggest stage required far more than a meal plan. It demanded long term strategy, daily precision, and deep integration with the coaching and medical teams.
Long-Term Planning & Daily Execution
My role began by working closely with the head coach and medical staff to establish a centralised nutrition strategy that aligned with the team’s macro training goals. This included periodised fuelling and recovery protocols built around training phases, travel, and tapering.
Whether athletes were preparing for altitude training in Kenya, racing internationally, or pushing through high-volume sessions at home, I ensured that every nutritional decision matched the demands of the day.
Individual Support for Maximum Output
Each athlete’s plan was built around:
Body composition monitoring and adaptive fuelling
Supplementation protocols aligned with session type and intensity
Hydration planning for double-session days and long-haul travel
Meal timing and portioning for energy management and recovery
I didn’t just hand out plans, I explained the ‘why’ behind every decision, helping athletes understand how their choices could directly influence lap times, recovery, and long term performance.
Building a Culture Around Performance
From young olympic hopefuls to national champions, the swimmers I worked with became more than just recipients of advice. They took ownership of their nutrition. Through workshops, 1-on-1 sessions, and consistent feedback, we built a shared understanding of what it means to eat and recover like elite athletes.
The result? A team that was better fuelled, recovered more effectively, and stepped onto the international stage with confidence, supported by measurable progress and performance outcomes.
